Mandala

This is my mandala. Typically, mandalas are composed of various shapes with different sizes with a collection of lines.  It was initially sketched, then transferred four times, and lastly painted used water on top of water-color, colored pencils.  It was inspired by the expansion of a star and how they withhold energy.

Paper Mache Sculpture

This is my paper mache based volcano. It has a few layers of paper mache, coated with news paper, and the painted in black and red color.  I was inspired by the natural shape of the wire base and how it was naturally structured which reminded me of the uneven , rocking surface , and the aftermath of the molten lava once it has solidified. The volcano doesn't have lava only on one side and it isn't distributed evenly, this was my goal.

Card Board Bas Relief

I was inspired by the colors of the galaxy and the orbital system.  The different forms that our planets have and how they cohabitate together create a serious of unique structures.

Metal Tooling Final

My metal tooling piece was inspired by natural elements such as water and trees.  I also used geometric shapes and structures to add more texture as well as fullness to the picture.

Palm of Hands Plaster Model

I was inspired by the human hand to recreate a figure that would resemble the shape, without the fingers to illustrate a shattered hand in a crackle effect.

Palm of Hands

The concept of this sketch is to create almost a shattered hand on a base, showing the crackle effect without the fingers itself, but with carrying out the shape and overall structure.

This sketch was constructed by Tim Burton in the year 2009.  The center piece is a smaller than average sized woman with a larger than life scaled head.  The primary colors are light to darker shades of red which are incorporated inside of the costume.  Blue is often referred to in the characters’ makeup effects as well to exaggerate the main theme.  The character sketched is known as the “Red Queen”.

The facial expressions display a sense of anger, discomfort, and rage.  There’s plenty of definition bounded within the ruffles of the dress sleeves and the neck garment.  In my opinion the artist is conveying the inner pains of the Red Queen by displaying that her overall attitude is fierce, fearful, and passionate.  In addition, there are repetitive symbols of hearts in the costume of the characters’ dress.

I think the artist was inspired by a whimsical energy so decided to manipulate the average scale of things.  Objects such as her head size, recreating the same symbols in unification being the hearts on the soul of the dress, and by illustrating a play of emotions through the formation of facial features.  This is demonstrated as the “Red Queen” aims to appear distressed while she’s surrounded with so much love and simple yet joyful colors.  Even in the "Red Queen's" hair the details convey that it is more messy and gives the sense that there is an apparent disruption.

The technique used in this sketch displays a clear and conceptual statement.  The details allow the viewers to formulate an accurate perspective of the theme. There are obvious communications by observing body language I feel are necessary when bringing any character to life, the way her eye brows are structured and even the heart drawn on her lips.  I feel passionate about the potential the sketch holds to become a more than life scale.

The Star of My Dreams

As the source of my light, my little brother is the star of my dreams.  This being is the motivation behind every goal I've ever set and aimed to conquer.  Whether it's to graduate my class with honors and raise the bars or even to start med school by fall, I  know we always have infinite HOPE as we continue to prosper together.
